Meet The Team

Steven “Super Steve” Ming ‘s philosophy is “One should live life to the fullest and live one day at a time. Don’t forget to give Thanks”. He has been apart of the Miss Jamaica World pageant for many years and is the chief instructor for the ladies.

Garfene L Grandison is a free spirit with an undeniable love for media. The past Campionite’s passion for journalism led him to obtain membership into the TEENage Observer club where he began his first gig as a lifestyle journalist. He later became president of the club for a few years which opened doors for his admittance to the lifestyle team at the Jamaica Observer. At this point, he was also doing free-lance work on the side, including lifestyle journalism for College Life-Style Magazine where he was the Magazine’s Lifestyle Editor. Thereafter he moved on to The Gleaner where he is currently stationed to date ans an Entertainment Reporter. The young journalist is in the process of completing a Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Media and Communication at the prestigious University of the West Indies

 

Since becoming the youngest Miss Jamaica World in 2001, opportunities of all kinds have presented themselves, which recently includes her emceeing on the main stage of the world class Jamaica Jazz and Blues stage.

Currently this multi-talented Singer, Model, TV presenter and producer on CVM TV has now added acting to her resume having made her TV debut recently on ‘The Blackburns of Royal Palm Estate’.

Comfortable in any setting, this down-to-earth brainy beauty wants to have her cake and eat it all. Her mantra is ‘why not?’ With her boundless talent, magnetic personality, infectious laugh and ability to connect with just about anyone, expect nothing less than timeless gems from this beautiful Queen

 

Danielle Crosskill- Standing at 5ft 6.5 inches weighing 117lbs with vital stats 32- 25-35 the University of the West Indies graduate is now the General Manager at Carichem Products Ltd and part time school teacher. Her life’s ambition is to be happy and successful in all her endeavors, in both her personal and professional life. A speaker of Spanish, she also enjoys painting, reading, going to the gym, Tennis & Jogging. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree in International Relations from UWI. Presently, she volunteers at the Glenhope Place of Safety where she reads, and teaches orphans to help enhance the children’s social skills. She is also painting for her first art exhibition. Nelson Mandela is the man that she’d most like to meet because of the strength of character and humility that she has always displayed

 

Tracey is a former Miss Jamaica World Contestant, and had been working with the pageant for the last 4 years ….As founder of Tracey Hamilton & Associates she brings to her clients more than 15 years of dynamic marketing communications and event planning expertise. She received her Professional Graduate diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) (UK) and will be pursuing her post-graduate diploma from the same institution. She also holds a Certificate in Business Administration and a Diploma in Marketing from College or Arts Science & Technology (CAST) now UTECH and a Diploma in Public Relations from Institute of Management and Production (IMP).

To complement her tertiary education she has taken several short courses, namely Merrick Needham’s Etiquette and Protocol, Voice and Speech from Creative Production and Training Centre (CPTC), Introduction to Project Management from Exced. Community College and a Certificate course in Microsoft Office from the Institute of Computer Technology (ICTC). She has also taught Event Management Seminar courses at UWI School of Continuing Studies and University Council of Colleges (UCC).

Clients she has worked with over the years have encompassed a wide variety of markets in both the public and private sector. Some of these have included: government, music and entertainment, financial, sports, and fashion. Her approach to her job is fresh, bold and creative. She enjoys working out in the gym, tennis, dancing and socializing.

Damian J. Shaw, or “D.J.” as he’s commonly referred to, is a Corporate and Personal Image Consultant, who has been making waves in the local pageant arena as the go-to person for runway techniques and styling for pageantry. He has been the grooming and runway coach for Miss U.W.I. (University of The West Indies, Mona campus) 2009, Miss Jamaica Universe 2010, Miss Teen (World) Jamaica 2011, Miss Global Teen Jamaica 2011 and has happily joined the Miss Jamaica World 2011 team.

D.J. is also currently the Style Contributor for www.ohthatsyou.com (a California-based style site), and an up-and-coming actor on Jamaica’s theatre scene, with his latest on-stage stint in the comedic 2011 remake of “Confessions” (directed by Actor Boy Award-winner David Tulloch) earning him major recognition from local critics and thespians alike.

His stage experience coupled with innate sense of style, creative edge and training in Communication and Psychology, has made him well-equipped to tackle the ABC’s of image – Appearance, Behaviour and Communication. As an Image Consultant he brings expertise to the Miss Jamaica World family in: colour analysis (makeup, hair, wardrobe), body proportion and shape analysis, style analysis, etiquette and social protocol skills, techniques in stage presence and even choreography.

 

WESTON HAUGHTON- PRODUCTION DIRECTOR
Jamaica’s FIRST Male Model of the Year -1980 something and Jamaica’s FIRST Costume King (JCDC Festival). Only Jamaican Director to have worked with HALLE BERRY – Fashion Show in Montego Bay when she represented the USA. She had just won second place in Miss USA Pageant that year and was the guest model along with queens from the Caribbean and South America. He has danced professionally for more that 14 years, studied dance with Eddy Thomas, founding member of the NDTC and was the featured dancer ” Silver Prince” with Miko Blanco’s Tropicano Dancers from 1972 – 1975. He toured Germany as Choreographer and Designer for the then Entertainment Group ONE LOVE JAMAICA headed by Keith Foote of Little Pub fame. In Germany performed in top show rooms as opening acts for international celebrities. He has been involved with Miss Jamaica World Pageant as Production Director, MC and set designer and has also choreographed and produced the Miss World Fashion Shows.
Currently employed to Sandals Resorts International as Group Creative Director.
