Life Ambition:
My life’s ambition is to be remembered as someone who had an impact on the lives of others, whether through inspiring and empowering them to achieve greatness or by helping to facilitate improved lives for them through education and increased access to fundamental human rights.
Five Year Plan: In five years, I see myself with a Masters Degree in Development Studies and working with the United Nations toward achieving the eight Millennium Development Goals.
Will Most Enjoy About The Pageant: I will most enjoy meeting and interacting with fellow contestants who will be from varying backgrounds and sub-cultures further enhancing my understanding and appreciation of our motto “Out of Many One People”
Most Want to Meet: I would most like to meet Professor Mohammad Yunus, who has done tremendous work in eradicating poverty in Bangladesh and other parts of the developing world, which is of importance to me as a student of International Relations. He is also a Nobel Peace Prize winner (2006) and the author of two deeply moving and inspirational books.
Most Unusual Thing Done: The most unusual thing I have done was once my friends and I, en route from Black river to South St. Elizabeth, caught crabs. We cooked them at home with lots of pepper and enjoyed a delicious meal!
Proudest Life Moment: I am most proud of receiving my Bachelor’s degree, with honors, in two disciplines, International Relations and Spanish, then moving on to teach Spanish for a year at my alma mater, Hampton School, an institution which produces young ladies of the finest ilk.
Personal Statement: It has always been my desire to represent my country at the international level, especially in a contest as prestigious as the Miss world Pageant, which seeks to celebrate not just physical beauty but “beauty with a purpose.” I am the archetypal Jamaican woman, possessing a combination of beauty, charm, wit, intelligence and grace and I look forward to the opportunities that being a contestant will afford me. |
