The Lady Hamilton Theater located at the exquisite 1056 room, 5 star property of Grand Palladium Resort & Spa – where the MJW Contestants were being hosted as the special guests of the GM and being treated to a Grand Palladium Weekend of fun, activities and relaxation - was the venue for the staging of this year’s Miss Jamaica World (MJW) Model Fast Track Competition sponsored by Soft Sheen Carson on Friday July 24.
The packed audience was treated to a fabulous show. The 18 MJW contestants individually and collectively modeled bikini swimwear by Mushrooms and original fashions by Port Royal Fashions Resort and Keena Linton Designs. The night’s programme ably managed by Master M.C. Paula Ann Porter Jones included performances from the hotel’s dance troop who did three choreographed high tempo dance routines and a Michael Jackson impersonator. For the Fast Track Model Competition the girls were judged on the following criteria; Style – how well the fashions were presented to the audience, grace on stage, personality in showcasing the pieces worn, technique and overall ability to work the stage and audience.
The Grand Palladium Resort guests were encouraged to cast their vote for the contestant of their choice by secret ballot as their votes formed part of the official judging process. Their winner was crowned ‘The People’s Choice’ and went to Contestant number 14 - Calee Scharschmdt – Miss Mandeville Orthodontic – Miss Jamaica World 2009 Western Queen and third place winner in the Fast Track Model Competition. The judges’ second place winner went to Miss O’Riley’s Rum Cream, Miss Kerrie Baylis another crowd favourite with strong modeling features, who has also had modeling experience prior to entering the Miss Jamaica World 2009 Competition.
