Spartan Health Club was the venue for the August 10th, 2009 MJW Talent Fast Track Eliminations. This talent elimination show competition could have easily been the opening show for a major production. This year’s MJW contestants are for sure not short on talent. Internationally acclaimed dancer, choreographer – Clive Thompson, Writer, Stage Manager, Songwriter – Alvin Campbell, ever popular singer and judge on Rising Stars – Nadine Sutherland, International Choreographer, Dancer, dance trainer – Mrs. Susan Urquhart-Chin, Miss Jamaica World 2005 and talent winner – Dr Terri Griffith- Reid comprised the panel of judges who along with non voting chief judge Mr. Tommy James were bestowed with the uphill task of narrowing the gifted field of 17 performers down to a top 6.

The contestants fully understood what was at stake, a secured gate way to a top ten position at the Grand Coronation Show August 22 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. So they knew they had to bring their game face to the table; they used props such as chairs, roses, back up band, in character dressing to solicit the votes of the judges. The contestants sang, danced, played musical instruments; spoke a Jamaican dialect all in the hope of being one of the selected six to go on to the finals which would be held at the Fiction Night Club on Tuesday August 11 with the view to win the title of MJW 2009 Fast Track – Talent . If you were fortunate to be associated to the pageant and allowed to sit in on the eliminations (as it really was a close session to the public) you would have understood what a joy it was to watch each and every performance, but alas the field was to be narrowed to six for finals.
After all performances were completed the contestants waited with nervous smiles and baited breathe for the results. After much discussion and deliberations from the judges the top six was announced – Kiri- Ann Bridgewater – Dance, Kamila McDonald – Song and Dance, Calee Scharschmidt – Song, Shereen Sterling – Song, Kimberley Patterson – Dance, Stephanie Hazle- Song.
Next Stop Fiction Night Club, Tuesday August 11. The public, fans, supporters of the contestants came out in their numbers to cheer for their winner and see the talent on show. The night was sponsored by Jergens who ensured that the contestants had the right props to perform with. The crowd was treated to a parade of the beauties in swimsuit by Mushroom and then the six performed their pieces. Each performer received a hearty round of applause from the appreciative crowd on hand. Once again the judges were on call to pick the top three from the multi talented group. Miss Kamila McDonald 1st runner up - she performed an original inspirational song written by herself and her mother and she danced a piece from Jimmy Cliff’s hit song Many Rivers to Cross, 2nd runner up Miss Kimberly Patterson - created quite a stir with her entertaining and provocative dance routine to a medley of songs and Miss Stephanie Cathie-Ann Hazle Winner of the MJW Talent Fast Track Competition showcased her musical range and sang with out the aid of a microphone a piece from the Broadway Musical “My Fair Lady” to the delight of the packed audience
